01The problem

The vault is the single source of truth: plain markdown in git, hand-editable, with no database and no embeddings. Grep's failure mode is "no match", which is legible; vector search's is silent bad recall, which isn't acceptable when the output is a document you're about to send.

02What I built

    Four tools

    list_projects, search_context, read_note and write_note.

    Containment

    Every path is resolved and must land inside the vault. Traversal, absolute paths and symlink escapes are refused.

  3. 03

    Quarantine

    Writes only land under generated/ or _inbox/, checked on the resolved path. Curated notes are read-only through MCP.

  4. 04

    Auto-commit

    Each write can be committed, so a bad write is one git revert away.
